Extraordinary plant resources.

Herbs

Herb of the Month: Pineapple weed --I thought this plant was chamomile when I was young, and my mom and I would collect the little lovely smelling flower heads for "chamomile" tea. This is a close cousin of chamomile, and has much of the same herbal properties, like a relaxing and calming effect. I have heard the herbalist Matthew Wood say that chamomile is for "babies of all ages" and I believe that pineapple weed can be used the same way, as well as for indigestion. It is also just a wonderful general tea.

The following herbs are a few of the extraordinary plants found on various herb walks. There are specific ethical considerations to harvesting these plants and it is your responsibility to ensure that you do not over harvest or harvest in areas that are protected. We need to keep these valuable herbs as sustainable resources. Please also be aware that some plants have toxic potential, and proper identification is essential to proper use of medicinal or edible plants.
